Oscar Giveaway – Day 2

Let me start by saying I loved everyone’s comments so far. You’re a witty bunch, and each comment is getting you closer to the fun Oscar prize! Who’s excited? WE ARE!  Keep em’ comin people! I took a few pictures for you yesterday as I was walking home so I could show you how Hollywood Boulevard comes to a screeching halt during Oscar week. The whole city just revolves around this event….or is the whole world? You would think so anyway.

Stands for the fans!

More stands for more fans! They have guards so no creepy fans hide underneath

Okay, enough with the pictures. Let’s get to today’s category:

1. Who is your Oscar prediction for Best Actress?

(Nominees: Glenn Close for Albert Nobbs, Viola Davis for The Help , Rooney Mara for The Girl With the Dragon Tatoo, Meryl Streep for the Iron Lady, Michelle Williams for My Week with Marilyn)

Let me just say that I don’t think anyone has heard of Albert Nobbs so Glenn Close can’t win. Viola Davis was really good in The Help (this is the only performance I’ve seen so far), I don’t care about a Girl with a Dragon Tattoo, Michelle Williams and Meryl Streep won the Golden Globes, so I predict Meryl Streep for kickin’ ass as Margaret Thatcher (or is it Margaret Snatcher?)

2. Do you think if a girl has a Dragon Tattoo that it’s most likely a tramp stamp? Is Rooney Mara a tramp in real life?  And who is Rooney Mara anyway?

Looks pretty trampy to me...

Put your answers in the comment section for your chance to win!!

Now for some past “Best Actress” Winners:

That is one GIANT pie hole!

Kathy Bates for Misery - One of my most coveted roles!

And my favorite hysterical speech of all time:

Help! I'm a wreck...

Unfortunately, I was unable to embed the video properly into this post, but just google Halle Berry’s Oscar speech for old time sake and a good  LOL!

Contest Rules:

Each day there will be two Oscar-related questions. Post your answers in the comment section. Each comment is an entry into the giveaway. At the end of the week a winner will be chosen at random. The contest will conclude on Saturday 2/25. You get extra entries for posting Death to Hollywood – the Contest on Facebook or Twitter, and “liking” the Death to Hollywood page on Facebook.

1. You have to be at least 18 years old to enter (that’s for legal reasons. We do NOT want minors winning a prize)

2. You have to live in the United States because I think shipping internationally is a hassle.

3. You have to answer two Oscar related questions as a comment on the blog.

4. It doesn’t matter if you’ve seen any of the nominated movies (most of them probably suck anyway)

About Death To Hollywood

My name is Celeste Donohue and I am a writer/comedian who started this blog to tell stories about my life growing up in a funeral home and my adult life which I have spent in Hollywood, California – hence the name, “Death To Hollywood”. Hopefully, you like to read those kinds of stories. If not, go read something serious and boring.....

  1. Julie H. says:

    1) I hope it is Glenn Close because she has been to the Cafe a couple of times (she had the French toast both times).
    2) Dragon tattoo is more like “I couldn’t think of anything better so I got a dragon”…. and who is Rooney Mara?

  2. mdonohue says:

Looks like you had fun with those pictures.Meryl Streep is my choice, and once again I did not see this film.Good luck to all.Love,Mom

  3. jwfong says:

    1) Viola Davis will win because Meryl Streep is always the bridesmaid, never the bride.
    2) I have no idea what dragon tattoo stands for, all I know is that Rooney Mara is one of the friggin luckiest people in the world to be a descendant of both the Steelers and Giants founders!

  4. Josephine says:

I am going to pick Glenn Close because I thought she did an astounding job with that role.

To do a dragon tattoo justice it can’t be a tramp stamp. I refuse, especially in this, the Year of the Dragon and even more especially because I was born in the Year of the Dragon. 🙂

Otherwise, I don’t think Rooney Mara IS a tramp, even though I don’t know who she is, but I don’t think she will win because this is supposedly the first part of a trilogy, right? So they will wait and hand out the Oscars later for that if they are actually made.

P.S. You weren’t kidding. They really do block the whole damn road!

  5. barskii says:

    Best Actress: Meryl Streep.

I can not judge anyone who has made bad choices of embeded ink beneath their Skin.
    – a Tramp, I wouldn’t know ??

  6. klpeach323 says:

    1)Gotta go with Streep.

    2) Never heard of this broad.

  7. Luke Hanbury says:

I’m with Julie H. Pulling for Glenn, think it will probably be Meryl, though. Mamma Mia is a guilty pleasure. Wait, did I think that or type that?

Dragon tatt SHOULD definitely be a tramp stamp. I’d like to look down on that while I’m doing my bidness. Also, Rooney Mara’s character… nom nom nom. Never have I dug a chick who was so androgynous…

  8. John Donohue says:

I love: “yep i’m a wreck” LOL!!!! Oscars? i guess.

  9. Kris says:

I love Meryl and Glenn…..haven’t seen the movies! The whole dragon thing is everywhere and i just don’t get it……i do want to be in the stands on Oscar night….i want to be a creepy fan with Halle Berry….help, I’m a wreck…..i love it!

  10. theresa n says:

I think Glenn Close is going to take it this year.
A Dragon tatoo…I think it says I was drunk and passed out and my boyfriend is a tatoo artist.

  11. the elder sister says:

    1. c’mon, Viola Davis is going to get it!!!!!
    2. not sure who or what Roony Mara (a shemale?) is, dragon tat cannot be a tramp stamp, that’s one for the arm or back, or maybe start on the arm and continues around the back, or really small if it’s “Barney”

  12. flip sanborn says:

glen close,,who cares she is smoking hot

  13. Tasha Johnston says:

1- Michelle Williams / best actress
    2- definitely a tramp stamp
She looks less like a tramp and more like a
    A depressed emo chic.
I do not know who she is, I have never
Heard of her or seen her in anything. Great
    Way to start your career!
