Good morning readers, thinkers and candy lovers….
After very careful consideration, daily spitballing, sleepless nights and a lot of sugar, I finally decided on the name of the candy and who the winners are. That’s right, there are three winners because they have all contributed to the final solution of naming the candy company and the candy itself.
But wait, before I announce everything, I need to address the naysayers and the negative Nancys. STOP IT! Some of the weirdest and craziest ideas, turn out to be the most successful and whether or not you supported the idea of “death” somewhere in the name, you can’t deny that death in any form will always get a reaction. What if I named it “sex candy?” Same thing. Sure, people might not buy it for their kids, but they’d be curious about it. By the way, none of the negative Nancys participated in this contest, I’m just pointing out that people who shoot down ideas should really just shoot themselves because nobody likes a wet blanket, except maybe someone who’s on fire. And if you don’t understand why I would want death in the name, consider the name of my blog and then go do some marketing research.
One of the contest participants (and regular readers), Josephine, sent me the link to this story:
complete with this picture:
A new coffee on the market. Suck it Nancys!
Now on to the important stuff:
I want to thank everyone who participated and contributed their creative ideas and. I hope you enjoyed it as much as I did and it really helped me decide on how I want to do this…at least for now. Okay, ready?
The name of the “company” will be….drum roll please….
CELESTIAL TREATS – Candy to die for!
In addition, each type of candy will have a name. I have three so far:
Now on to the winners!
Josephine Polifroni – who was the first one to suggest Celestial Candy.
Jabin – who suggested Candy to die for, and I’m using this as the tagline.
Beth – who suggested La petite mort, which is French for Little Death and I think you know what else.
Please email me (firstname.lastname@example.org) your addresses (and full name) so I can send you your Celestial Treats!! 😀
For me, this is combining the best of both. I think people will associate death with going to heaven every time they eat this candy. Also, by keeping it Celestial Treats, I can always add something other than candy, like homemade pickles…pickles to die for. Not that I plan on making pickles any time soon, I’m just saying it leaves it open for other products.
I will let you know as soon as I can get the paypal button on my blog with a description of the candy, etc. so anyone can buy some!
I made a new kind last night. If you like butterscotch and peanut butter, you will love Sweet Death candy 😀
Thanks again to all of you and have a deliciously sweet day!
